Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that since Punjab is the biggest province, it should be given a bigger share as per its population under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). He directed to the relevant formulate development projects keeping in view the needs and problems of the people and to ensure transparency and adherence to timely completion of projects in a meeting during his visit here on Wednesday.
The chief minister called on Planning Commission Deputy chairman Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan at the Ministry of Planning. Planning Secretary Hamid Yaqub Sheikh, additional secretary and members of the commission, and senior officials of the ministry were also present on the occasion. The meeting reviewed the ongoing mega projects in the province from the federal PSDP’s budget for the current financial year. It was directed to ensure the completion of the projects within the stipulated time. Moreover, Sheikh briefed the participants on projects pertaining to livestock, primary health, and education industries and food security. Apart from that, the participants were also given a briefing on road reconstruction, expansion and construction of two-lane roads in Punjab.
‘Punjab expects more development budget’
The meeting further stressed to improve development projects in the federation as well as the province. Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission apprised the meeting about the timely completion of small dam construction projects across Punjab. He assured to remove obstacles in the completion of ongoing development projects under the federal government, especially drainage projects in the province.
