Death of two Covid-19 patients to be probed in Punjab

Relatives allege oxygen supply in ICU was suspended

The relatives of two coronavirus patients have alleged that they died after the oxygen supply to an intensive care unit at a teaching hospital was cut off.

 Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar took notice of the deaths of the patients.

According to the complainants, two patients of coronavirus were admitted to the ICU in critical condition. They said the oxygen supply was allegedly suspended at 2am on Sunday.

According to the relatives of the patients, they could not get oxygen due to which they lost their lives. However, according to Dr Khalid Tehseen, the Focal Person of the hospital, the two patients had died of natural causes in the ICU.

Both the patients had been undergoing treatment in the ICU for the past week due to their critical condition.

 The dead included 55-yearold Ghulam Shabbir and 50-year-old Wazir Mai. On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar took notice of the complaint of non-supply of oxygen by the relatives of the deceased patients and sought a report on the incident from the commissioner of Dera Ghazi Khan.

Expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, Buzdar described the incident as unfortunate.
