The Judicial Water and Environmental Commission’s report revealed that the status of brick kilns in Punjab’s all 36 districts has reached 85.81% ie 6,967 brick kilns which have been converted to zigzag technology out of 8,119. Advocate Syed Kamal Ali Haider submitted a report before the court of Lahore High Court’s Justice Shahid Karim on behalf of chairman JWEC Justice (retd) Ali Akbar Qureshi. Justice Karim was hearing petitions on how smog could be controlled, how society could be made polluted free and how groundwater could be protected from wastage. It was pointed out by the LHC that several brick kilns were operating on old bull trench technology in Sheikhupura district which had not been converted from old bull trench technology to zigzag technology.
