Five die of coronavirus in Islamabad

Health officer informed that 258 more cases were reported on Wednesday

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI:

As many as 41,380 frontline healthcare workers and senior citizens in the federal capital have been vaccinated so far against coronavirus as the government paces up its immunisation drive while five people died from the deadly virus in the federal capital on Wednesday.

According to official figures, 5,476 people out of 7,732 registered have received vaccine jabs at Capital Development Authority Hospital while 11,670 of 14,656 registered healthcare workers and elderly people have been vaccinated at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Moreover, 4,426 of 6,396 registered individuals have been administered the Covid vaccine at Poly Clinic Hospital (PCH) along with 1,190 of 2,796 registered persons at Bhara Kahu Rural Health Centre.

Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi, vaccines have been administered to 24,068 recipients in the district since the inoculation started on March 10. District Health Coordinator Dr Jawad Khalid said that 11,631 healthcare workers and 12,437 citizens have received their first dose of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine so far.

He informed that the District Health Authority has registered a total of 18,119 positive cases till date out of which 16605 belonged to Rawalpindi while 1514 to other districts. The health officer informed that 258 more cases were reported on Wednesday.
