Pakistan, ADB agree to expand partnership
Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have agreed to continue discussing ways to deepen their development partnership and ensure effectiveness of the ongoing portfolio.
During a virtual meeting between Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar and ADB Central and West Asia Department Director General Yevgeniy Zhukov, the minister appreciated the ADB’s role as a trusted development partner of Pakistan, especially in terms of quality of the portfolio and support keeping in view the emerging needs of the country to fight the pandemic.
Bakhtiar highlighted that despite challenges posed by Covid-19 and the worldwide contraction, the key economic indicators were showing encouraging results owing to the government’s strong commitment to structural reforms.
Also speaking on the occasion, the DG acknowledged Pakistan government’s commitment to the reform process and economic recovery. He reiterated the ADB’s commitment to working closely with the government of Pakistan to develop more meaningful projects aligned with the country’s needs and regulatory frameworks.
