Over 200 new infections emerge

The pandemic claimed four lives in Sindh and over 200 new infections were detected, it emerged on Thursday.

Another 247 infections were diagnosed when 8,506 samples were tested for the contagion, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House on the day.

The provincial pandemic tally and death toll rose to 264,061 and 4,486, respectively, with the recent cases and deaths, said Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Another 152 persons also recovered from the virus bringing the total number of recoveries in Sindh to 255,399, he added.

Elaborating further, the CM said that 4,176 patients were under treatment for the contagion. Of these, 3,888 were in home isolation, eight at isolation centres and 280 at different hospitals. The condition of 251 patients was stated to be critical, with at least 40 persons shifted on ventilators.

Of the new infections, 120 emerged in Karachi. Hyderabad reported 31, Ghotki 18, Matiari 14, Kashmore 12, Dadu 11, Tando Allahyar 10, Naushero Feroze and Umerkot six each, Badin three, Larkana two and Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur and Sanghar one each.
