RAWALPINDI:

In an apparent case of honour killing, a married woman was murdered allegedly by her brother in the precincts of Saddar police station on Monday.

In her statement to police, the victim's mother Gul Sanga said her 25-year-old son, Gulzada, has strangled his sister, Kainat, with an electric wire. She said her brother-in-law, Nazeerullah, had incited his son to kill the woman for allegedly having illicit relations with a cousin.

The mother said Kainat had been married to her maternal cousin Farhad Khan five years ago under arranged marriage.

However, Kainat was living at her parents’ house after a fight with her husband and a divorce case was under way.

She said Kainat's husband had accused her of having illicit relations with her cousin, which led to the marital dispute and Kainat left his home to live with her mother.

Police have registered a case and started the investigation.
