‘Green Line BRT should start by Aug’
The government is taking measures to expedite the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Karachi to ease the problems faced by the citizens, who are currently exposed to a grave situation due to the absence of adequate public transport, said Planning Minister Asad Umar. In a meeting held on Monday to review the pace of Green Line BRT project in Karachi, he said that the centre was working beyond its responsibility to give due rights to Karachi. While reviewing the Karachi Circular Railway Freight Corridor project, Umar directed the Ministry of Railways, Sindh Infrastructure Development Company and Public Private Partnership Authority to finalise a tripartite agreement. He also called on the stakeholders to determine the scope of work, reflecting the role of each party in the mutually agreed projects to be initiated on public-private partnership/ build-operate-transfer modes. He emphasised that the Green Line BRT should be operational by August 2021.
