Coronavirus claims five more lives in Sindh

293 new infections were detected in the province

Sindh reported five more coronavirus-related deaths on Friday, when 293 new infections were detected in the province, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued on the day.

The CM said that after the recent deaths and new cases, the Covid-19 death toll in the province had climbed to 4,478 and the infection tally to 262,795.

According to the CM, 130 of the new cases were reported from Karachi, 25 from Hyderabad, 24 from Badin, 12 from Tando Allahyar, 10 from Naushero Feroze, eight from Khairpur, seven from Mirpurkhas and Sujawal each, six from Ghotki and as many from Larkana, five from Tando Muhammad Khan, four from Jacobabad, Qambar-Shahdadkot and Umerkot each, three from Jamshoro and as many from Sukkur, two from Matiari and Shaheed Benazirabad each and one from Sanghar.

Besides, he said, with 146 fresh recoveries, the total number of recovered patients in Sindh added up to 253,456.

The CM said 4,861 Covid-19 patients were under treatment as of Friday, with 4,559 in home isolation, seven in isolation centres and 295 in hospitals.

He added that the condition of 269 patients was critical. Of them, 38 of are on ventilators, the CM further stated.
