SHO sent on 3-day remand in student suicide case
A District and Sessions Court in Peshawar sent the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gharbi Police Station Dost Mohammad on a three-day physical remand in the student suicide case.
District Sessions Judge Peshawar Younus Khan has appointed judicial magistrate Sanaullah Khan as an inquiry officer for the probe into the alleged suicide of Shahzeb inside the police station. The inquiry officer is directed to present report into the incident in 14 days. Peshawar police had sent a request for a judicial inquiry into the case. The judicial magistrate has been directed to conduct the probe under Section 176 of the Criminal Code.

According to CCPO Peshawar Abbas Ahsan, the post-mortem report of the deceased teenager Shahzeb has not been received so far. However, some new revelations came to light during the funeral prayers of the student which was held earlier today. According to relatives of the deceased, signs of torture were visible on the deceased teenager’s body. His fingers were swollen while he also had scars of injuries behind his ears and head.
The bereaved family maintains that they had noted scars on child's body before burial. The child had been assaulted during his arrest from the bazaar by the police, they said. Ahsan maintained that the investigation team has recorded the statements of all the staff present at the police station including the SHO in custody when the unfortunate incident took place.
