KARACHI:

The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell Police (AVLC) claimed on Monday to have arrested five motorcycle lifters in separate operations.

AVLC officials said that the operations were carried out by AVLC’s New Karachi, Orangi Town, and Clifton divisions.

The alleged motorcycle lifters, identified as Aftab, Arsalan, Karim, Yaseen, and Majeed Ahmed, were booked in separate cases, they added.

According to AVLC SSP Arif Aslam Rao, the five stolen motorcycles were also recovered during the operations.

These vehicles were stolen from the limits of Korangi Industrial Area, Pakistan Bazar, and Baloch Colony police stations, said Rao, adding that the arrested persons were habitual criminals who stole motorcycles and sold their parts to scrap dealers.

Meanwhile, the CCTV footage of another motorcycle lifting incident surfaced on the day. The footage shows two perpetrators on a motorcycle in Mehmoodabad stealing another motorcycle parked in a street.

One of the suspects unlocks the vehicle within 50 seconds and takes off without anyone noticing.
