Over 150 new infections emerge in Sindh

Over 150 coronavirus cases emerged in Sindh on Monday and three more persons have succumbed to the virus, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House on Monday.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said 171 Covid-19 infections were detected when 8,511 samples were tested for the contagion.

The provincial tally and death toll climbed to 261,581 and 4,461, respectively, with the recent cases and fatalities, added Shah, elaborating further. Another 144 persons also recovered from the infection overnight bringing the total number of recoveries in Sindh thus far to 252, 857, he said, adding that 3,152,760 tests have been conducted in the province to date.

There were at least 4,263 active Covid-19 infections in Sindh as of Monday, according to Shah. Of these, 3,967 were in home isolation, nine were in isolation centres and 287 were admitted at different hospitals.

The condition of 258 patients was stated to be critical, with at least 39 shifted to ventilators.

Meanwhile, of the 171 new infections, 38 emerged in Karachi. These included 24 cases detected in the East district, seven in Korangi, three in South, two in Central, one in Malir, and as many in district West.

Hyderabad reported 19 new cases, Tando Muhammad Khan 17, Shaheed Benazirabad 14, Thatta 13, Sanghar 11, Kamber Shahdadkot eight, Larkana and Sujawal each reported six new infections, Mirpurkhas five, Naushero Feroze four, Jacobabad and Khairpur three each, Ghotki, Tando Allahyar, Umerkot and Shikarpur two each and Jamshoro and Matiari each reported one new infection.

Citizens were urged to follow the coronavirusmandated standard operating procedures (SOPs).
