KARACHI:

A five-year-old girl was severely injured after she was mauled by a stray dog in PECHS block-VI on Friday.

According to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre executive director Seemin Jamali, the injured, Ayesha, was playing outside her house when a dog attacked her and bit her head and face. She said Ayesha was under treatment in the emergency ward and had been administered the anti-rabies vaccine.

On Saturday, Ayesha was shifted to the National Institute of Child Health (NICH). A team of doctors will decide on Monday whether she needs to undergo surgery. NICH director Dr Jamal Raza said her condition was stable, though she had developed an infection due to dog-bite injuries.
