Duo gone viral ever since their photo went online

Syra Yousuf and Bilal Ashraf have been causing quite a stir after their picturesque selfie took over social media this week. Ever since the celebrated actors posted the snap, fans on both sides have been shipping the couple in hopes to see them get together someday.

“Kind people are the best kind of people,” Yousuf wrote in the caption. Responding to the Mera Naseeb actor’s post, Ashraf commented, “Syra, you are a source of inspiration for so many and a true rockstar.”

As expected, this had fans gushing over the two gorgeous stars. In fact, even other celebrities like Mahira Khan, Saboor Aly and Ashraf’s co-star from Rangreza, Ghana Ali, chimed in, leaving heart-shaped-eyes emoticons on the post.

To sail the ship

Ever since the photo made its way to social media, many aficionados have been showering the duo with love in hopes to hear some sort of official announcement soon.

But much of the jargon has been split into two, with one section speculating something is cooking between Yousuf and Ashraf and the other, heavily criticising the first for being presumptuous and making things up for the sake of a ‘happily ever after.’

One admirer took to Twitter and said, “So we have a new couple in town?” This was followed by another supporter adding, “Woah! How did I miss this one? Syra Yousuf and Bilal Ashraf looking absolutely adorable together! Is it for a project or is it actually what I think it is?”

Lastly, a follower took Yousuf’s recently-ended marriage to Shahroz Sabzwari into account and tweeted, “Let’s be honest, we ship Syra Yousuf with everyone except Shahroz.”

Not on board

Many who have been rooting for the couple have also received backlash from followers on Instagram over speculating relationship between the two celebrities. Adding onto that, some fans instructed others to respect one’s privacy and consent.

Some took it into their hands and commented, “With every next person, people start shipping Syra and ask her to marry (face-palm emoticon).”

On the other hand, few heavily disagree with fantasizing about a couple and said, “These illiterate people have some serious obsession with shadi (weddings).

People can be hanging out as friends or with family, posting pictures on social media and the entire nation jumps in to start the match-making.”

Another added, “If they are in a relationship, it’s their business. But from what I have learned about Pakistani culture is that a divorced woman standing next to any guy is linked to that person. This could very well be just two friends taking a selfie. Why try to put a label on it and make that poor woman’s life even harder?”

Previously, Yousuf had appeared in Atif Aslam’s music video Raat and received backlash over unfiltered photo. It became the subject of mockery by people whose visions had been tainted by our virtual world’s idealistic point of view.
