Sindh reports over 250 new infections

As many as 256 new coronavirus cases were reported in Sindh on Wednesday besides six more deaths.

According to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the provincial pandemic tally rose to 260,405 and the Covid death toll in Sindh climbed to 4,448 with the recent cases and deaths.

Elaborating further, the CM said that 9,964 samples were tested for the contagion and 256 persons tested positive. A total of 3,106,622 tests have been conducted thus far, he added.

As of Wednesday, 4,284 patients in Sindh were under treatment for the contagion, according to Shah. Of these, 3,968 were in home isolation, 11 at isolation centres and 305 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 274 patients was stated to be critical, with at least 44 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 256 new cases, 129 have been detected in Karachi, with 52 reported from East district, 37 from Korangi, 18 from South, 12 from Central, eight from Malir and two from West. Besides, Matiari reported 24 cases, Hyderabad 13, Sanghar 10, Badin seven, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Larkana six each, Dadu, Naushero Feroze and Qambar-Shahdadkot five each, Ghotki, Jamshoro, Thatta and Jacobabad three each, Tando Allahyar and Umerkot two each and Shaheed Benazirabad one.
