Following the bandwagon started by The Weeknd and Halsey, Zayn Malik is the latest celebrity to call out the Grammys. The Pillow Talk crooner is upset over the choice of artists nominated for the award show, resulting in multiple tweets addressing the association, reported Variety.
My tweet was not personal or about eligibility but was about the need for inclusion and the lack of transparency of the nomination process and the space that creates and allows favoritism, racism, and netwokring politics to influence the voting process— zayn (@zaynmalik) March 10, 2021
“Screw the Grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there are no nomination considerations. Next year, I’ll send you a basket of confectionary,” tweeted Malik, who received mixed opinions in response, with some netizens wondering if the One Direction band member was aware of his debarment from the upcoming show, or the fact he is shading Golden boy, Harry Styles.
I don’t think Harry did that, either you can play the victim or put more effort into your art— Issa arrow (@hommie_girl) March 9, 2021
A user in response tweeted, “I don’t think Harry did that. Either you can play the victim or put more effort into your art.”
I'm really confused how he ever thought hed be nominated when he hasn't been relevant for years. The only reason anyone remembers he exists is because of the baby— NIALL KNOWS I EXIST (@1DInfection2248) March 9, 2021
While another added, “I'm really confused how he ever thought he’d be nominated when he hasn't been relevant for years. The only reason anyone remembers he exists is because of the baby.”
Many have questioned his ability to release more music after a long period. But Malik just recently released his third studio album Nobody is Listening. According to multiple sources though, the record didn’t do well despite being heavily marketed through his significant other Gigi Hadid and his family.
