The police have yet to ascertain the identities of the woman and boy, whose bodies were found on the outskirts of the city on Monday.
The investigation police have collected DNA samples from the deceased and completed geo-fencing of the area, said officials on Tuesday. A case was lodged at Steel Town Police Station under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code pertaining to murder and obstruction of evidence.
The police said no eye-witnesses have been found yet but further investigations are underway.
The mutilated bodies of a woman, stated to be in her late 20s, and a minor boy, were found in the bushes near the Malir Development Housing Authority on Gulshan-e-Hadeed link road on Monday.
The police said the deceased had likely died around six days ago. The woman's body was burnt while the minor's appeared to have been smashed with a heavy object.
According to Steel Town SHO Mumtaz Marwat, the initial evidence suggested that the deceased had been murdered elsewhere. He added that it appeared to be an incident of honour killing.
