Faisalabad DC draws speaker’s ire for missing phone calls

Opposition lawmakers condemned the official’s conduct and assured full support to the speaker

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has summoned the deputy commissioner of Faisalabad for not attending his phone calls made to know why he was not giving land for establishing a Rescue 1122 office.

Opposition lawmakers on Monday condemned the official’s conduct and assured full support to the speaker. The conduct of the DC is tantamount to humiliating the speaker and the opposition will sand by the government whenever the dignity of the House will be questioned, PML-N’s MPA Khalil Tahir Sandhu said.

Speaker Pervaiz Elahi came down hard on the Faisalabad DC, saying that he was not attending the phone calls of the provincial minister concerned as well as the speaker.

The speaker said a member of the official staff had said that he was with a minister. When the minister was phoned, it was revealed that the official was not present with him. Through inquiries latter, it was found that the DC was at home, the speaker told the assembly members.
