Sindh reports 189 Covid cases, as many recoveries

Coronavirus claims two more lives in Sindh

Nearly 200 more coronavirus cases emerged in Sindh, which reported two Covid deaths on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House, 189 new infections emerged when 7,813 samples were tested for the contagion.

Elaborating further, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that 3,083,209 Covid tests have been conducted in the province thus far. With the recent cases and fatalities, the provincial pandemic tally and death toll have climbed to 259,854 and 4,426, respectively, he added.

As many as 249,188 persons in Sindh have also recovered from the contagion, including 189 overnight, apprised the CM.

According to the statement, 6,240 persons were under treatment for coronavirus in Sindh as of Sunday. Of these, 5,922 patients were in home isolation, 10 in isolation centres and 308 were admitted in different hospitals. The condition of 277 patients was stated to be critical, with at least 40 shifted on ventilators.

Of the 189 new cases, 68 were reported from Karachi, said Shah, adding that 22 were detected in East district, 16 in South, 14 in Central, 13 in Korangi and three were detected in Malir.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 18 new cases, Badin 15, Sanghar 12, Dadu and Thatta 10 each and Ghotki and Sujawal six each. Besides, four cases were detected in Shikarpur, as many in Tando Allahyar, Jacobabad, Mirpurkhas, Naushero Feroze and Larkana, two new cases each were detected in Kambar Shahdadkot, Umerkot and Khairpur, and one case was detected in Jamshoro and Sukkur each.

People were urged to follow the coronavirus-mandated standard operating procedures (SOPs).
