IESCO assures city traders of upgrading facilities
The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) on Saturday assured City traders that repairs, maintenance and replacement of old electric wires would be carried out from 8AM to 12 noon today.
"The IESCO will install new transformers where needed while old transformers would be upgraded to resolve the issue of low voltage," said Rawalpindi Traders Association Sharjeel Mir quoting IESCO chief Abdul Razzaq. Speaking to the media, Mir said he had discussed the problems being faced by traders with the IESCO chief in a meeting, who assured full cooperation for resolving the electricity issues of the business community.
Mir pointed out that their business was being adversely affected due to unannounced and prolonged load-shedding on the pretext of maintenance incurring them losses to the tune of millions of rupees
Moreover, incidents of electrical short circuits regularly because of outdated wires were a common occurrence.
Mir said that the IESCO chief while acknowledging the veracity of the trader's complaints assured them that IESCO will replace the old and dangerous electricity supply wires in the city.
Power suspension
The IESCO has notified a power suspension schedule for today for various areas due to “necessary maintenance and routine development work”.
According to the IESCO spokesman, the power supply of different feeders and grid stations will remain suspended on Sunday. From 9am to 2pm, there will be no electricity in areas including Humayun Road, Jail Park, Mecca Chowk, Rehmatabad 1&2, 502 Workshop, Bostan Road, Chaklala, Scheme 3, National Park, MSF, Murree Brewery, Gulistan Colony, Topi Pumping, Chaklala Garrison, JSHQ, CNC, Mulhal Mughals, Solar 1&2, Tarlai, H-8, Highway, Iqbal Town, Fazia, NPCC-II, Service Road East, Park View, Pindi Board, Jail Park, Car Chowk, Mehboob Shaheed.
