Contagion death toll shoots past 4,400 in Sindh

The province reports new 260 Covid cases, 17 more fatalities

With another 17 coronavirus-related deaths being reported in Sindh on Thursday, the provincial death toll has climbed to 4,405, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued on the day.

The CM further stated that 260 new infections were detected in Sindh, when the results of 9,689 tests were released, lifting the total number of infections reported thus far in the province to 259,163.

Of the fresh cases, 126 belonged to Karachi, 23 to Hyderabad, 16 to Mirpurkhas, 15 to Sujawal, 13 to Thatta, eight to Matiari and Tando Allahyar each, six to Larkana and as many to Naushero Feroze, five to Jacobabad and Qambar-Shahdadkot each, four to Umerkot and three to Khairpur, Nawabshah and Ghotki each.

Besides, the CM said 294 more Covid-19 patients had regained health, raising the total number of recoveries to 248,478.

At present (Thursday), 6,280 patients are under treatment here, he said, adding that 5,956 were in home isolation, eight in isolation centres and 316 in hospitals. Among them, 283 patients are critically ill, with 43 on ventilators, he stated.
