‘Five-member robbers gang’ nabbed

The West district police claimed to have arrested on Wednesday a five-member gang of thieves allegedly involved in several house robberies. The suspects are also accused of murder, rape and harassment.

The arrested suspects were identified as Shayan alias Shani, Shan, his brother James alias Jimmy, Emanuel alias Sooraj and his brother Daniel alias Chand.

According to West SSP Suhai Aziz, the arrested suspects are implicated in over 20 cases pertaining to serious crimes.

She said that the group members killed a property dealer and robbed six mobile phones and Rs60,000 during a robbery at an estate agency in Surjani Town on February 6, 2021. Besides, the suspects broke into a house in Hassan Brohi Goth on January 28, 2021, and raped a woman during the robbery, she said, adding that they had taken off with a gold chain and Rs10,000.

The SSP added that the group was involved in opening fire on three men, Mujahid Abbas, Ilmuddin and Fayyaz over resistance during separate robberies.

The SSP said that the arrested suspects have confessed to harassing three women and stealing Rs45,000 cash, eight mobile phones and other valuables during three house robberies in Saif-al-Marri Goth. They have also confessed to opening fire on 11 men over resistance during different robberies.
