Over 200 Covid cases detected in Sindh

Pandemic claims 16 more lives in the province

Over 200 coronavirus cases emerged in Sindh on Wednesday, when 9,052 samples were tested for the contagion, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued on the day.

With 16 more fatalities and 225 new cases, the provincial Covid-19 death toll climbed to 4,388 while the total number of infections reported in Sindh rose to 258,903, added Shah.

A total of 3,045,244 samples have been tested thus far for the virus, he elaborated further.

According to the data shared by the CM, 112 of the recent cases were detected in Karachi, 13 in Badin, nine each in Larkana, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad and Ghotki, seven each in Khairpur and Sanghar, six in Kambar Shahdadkot and as many in Tando Allahyar.

Meanwhile, Matiari, Thatta and Tando Muhammad Khan reported five new cases each, Jamshoro four, Noshero Feroze and Umerkot three each and Sukkur reported two new cases.

Moreover, with 326 more patients regaining health, the number of coronavirus recoveries reported thus far added up to 248,184, according to the CM.

He stated that 6,331 Covid-19 patients were under treatment in Sindh as of Wednesday, with 5,993 in home isolation, nine in isolation centres and 329 in different hospitals. The condition of at least 296 patients is critical with 51 on ventilators, the CM added.
