The middle-order batsman was also nominated in the Test Player of the Year Award category. Hashim Amla, Zaheer Khan, Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers are among several other leading cricketers who have been nominated for both the prestigious awards.
Other Pakistanis to have won nominations in various categories include Mohammad Hafeez and Saeed Ajmal for the One-Day International (ODI) Player of the Year Award, Azhar Ali and Adnan Akmal for the emerging player category, and Bismah Maroof for the women’s cricketer of the year award.
Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar, who won last year’s Umpire of the Year Award, will again be competing for the prestigious award, along with Asad Rauf.
This year’s ICC Awards include 10 individual prizes and also feature the selection of the Test and One-Day International Teams of the Year and the award to the side that has adhered most to the Spirit of Cricket.
In addition, five cricketers have been nominated for the People’s Choice Award, which include Jonathan Trott, MS Dhoni, Chris Gayle, Kumar Sangakkara and South Africa’s Hashim Amla.
The long-lists of nominations were made by a five-man selection panel, which included Clive Lloyd, Mike Gatting, Danny Morrison, Paul Adams and Zaheer Abbas. The award ceremony is due to be held on September 12 in London.

emphasized text
strong textmisbah bhai is the best i wish misbah bhayi u l get the award mr cool
Misbah should be nominated for the "Best Test Player in a ODI squad" Award !
M. Hafeez nominated ahead of Shahid Afridi? Pardon my surprise, I'm not a typical my-love-for-afridi-is-so-blind-i'm-borderline-homosexual-for-him Pakistani, but that strikes me as being completely off the mark!
Did anyone else notice the 15 indian nominations? 3 in COY, 5 in TPOY and a whopping 7 in ODI... now i know who controls the ICC
I think Misbah should be given best ODI player award. Afterall who can his forget his epic innings against India in WC.
And ODI Player of the year goes to Sachin as he is an Indian and we have a Indian Board No Doubt Hashim Amla is the only player who deserves this.
I am sure its for his unbeaten knock in the WC semifinal, showing qualities of a test player in an ODI game! He should be the player of the decade !
Hafeez is really nice man, He deserves to be One of the Odi players of this year and Regarding Misbah, He too deserves it Because he is really Good in Test matches and have pretty Descent Average.
Hafeez should be The ODI Player of the Year.....And Regarding Misba I don't like Him :/
@ dodo, cuz he scored 2 centuries this year ( as far as i can remember from top of my head) and took several wickets. He is a good all rounder.
Misbah is a worthy nominee. A cool character who is carrying the team well. Inzamam kept him away from national cricket for a long time. But he richly deserves the praise of being resolute at the crease and playing sensibly. He should continue so long as his form and mental fitness allows him to continue. During this period couple of young cricketers could be groomed.
im sure the indians are behind this.,:P... test player alright!.. gifted the semifinal to India well played mysbah..
@Ranatunga: Asoka DeSilva would have the full right to claim the prize had the award been for "Best umpiring by a non umpire"
Umpire of the year should be Ashoka DeSilva... no doubt.
MISBAH UL HAQ all the way man ... Mr Cool for Pakistan... totally deserver the sober's trophy...
Why is M. Hafeez nominated as ODI player of the year? By the way, i have no doubt in my mind that Cricketer of the year award will go to an ashes winner
