ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of DIG Junaid Arshad who is in jail for the last two years for uploading obscene photos of his ex-wife.

A bench, headed by Justice Mushir Alam, heard the case. The suspect’s counsel said his client was not involved in a serious crime. “The allegation is minor but my client has been under arrested for two years,” he added.

At this, Justice Alam told the lawyer that “you and I also have daughters”. The judge added: “Don't call such an act a minor crime”.

The counsel, however, alleged that the suspect had been framed in the case over a family dispute. Justice Alam remarked that disputes take place in every household but nobody is allowed to cross the limit.

The court, after hearing the arguments, ruled that posting obscene pictures of women online was not a minor offence and dismissed the bail plea.
