RAWALPINDI:

A mentally challenged teenage boy sustained serious burn injuries when he fell inside a brick kiln situated at Chakwal Road in the precincts of Mandra police station on Tuesday.

Rescue-1122 teams provided first aid to 13-year-old Muhammad Zafar and shifted him to hospital. “Luckily, the kiln was shut, it was not on fire. But the child got burn injuries by simmering ash,” Rescue-1122 sources said.

The victim’s father Nathu said he worked at the brick kiln. Nathu told police his son was playing on top of the kiln when he slipped and fell where bricks are kept for baking.

People pulled out the child and called Rescue-1122. The rescuers gave first aid to the child and took him to a rural health centre and then to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences burns unit. Mandra SHO Yasir Mehmood Kayani said they have registered a report on the complaint of the victim’s father. The complaint said he worked at the brick kiln for the past four years.
