Court’s premises turned into a battlefield as both parties got involved in scuffle

MUZAFFARGARH:

Lawyers and judicial staff foiled a girl’s abduction from court premises on Tuesday.

They handed over two of the suspects to the area police. According to the city police, Elisha Bibi reached the court to record her statement along with her lawyer Shahid Rahim before Magistrate Mudasser Hayat under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

In the meantime, the girl’s relatives including Rab Nawaz, Sanwal, Mushtaq Bhatti among 15 to 20 people surrounded the victim to take her away forcibly along with them.

However, lawyers along with the court’s staff present on the occasion put up resistance to foil the kidnapping bid.

The court’s premises turned into a battle field as both the parties reportedly got involved in a scuffle while abusing each other.

Lawyers caught two suspects and handed them over to police while their accomplices fled the scene.

Police registered an FIR against the suspects and further investigation was underway.
