Seize over 12,000 kites as Basant frenzy grips city

RAWALPINDI:

On violation of kite-flying restrictions, the Rawalpindi police booked as many as 175 people from different areas of the city for celebrating Basant.

The suspects involved in kite flying, doing celebratory firing and using loudspeakers in violation of the law have been apprehended by the police of different jurisdictions.

The police officials said they seized over 12,000 kites, more than 300 spools, sound system, arms and ammunition from the possession of the suspects.

Rawalpindi police booked some 36 suspects on Basant Night and recovered more than 5,000 kites and 69 spools from their possession.

On the Basant day, the Rawalpindi police used drone cameras to trace violators flying kites on the roofs of houses, plazas, hotels and buildings.

According to details, Race Course Police booked 66 suspects and seized 3,450 kites, 125 spools and two sound systems.

Civil Lines Police held 28 kite-flyers and confiscated 1,582 kites, 53 string rolls, four pistols, ammunition and two sound system.

Further, Naseerabad police booked 13 violators and recovered 82 kites, 13 string rolls while RA Bazar police arrested six offenders and seized some 170 kites, five spool, two pistols and ammunition.
