Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Pakistan Mohammad Motahar Alashabi visited the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad the other day and met with its Rector Major General (retd) Muhammad Jaffar in his office.
The ambassador was briefed by the rector about the university who informed him that NUML is teaching 26 regional and international languages and it is the only university of its kind in the country.
Rector Jaffar pointed out to the guest that besides languages, NUML has four other faculties: Faculty of Social Sciences, Engineering, English and Management Sciences.
The rector explained that Arabic being the language of the Holy Quran is the reason that majority of Pakistanis are keen to learn it.
Arabic language department at NUML is playing a pivotal role in promoting the Arabic language and culture, he added.
Ambassador Alashabi, in turn, appreciated the role of NUML in promoting Arabic language and culture in Pakistan and he urged the NUML rector to start a students exchange programme.
The NUML rector assured the ambassador of his full cooperation in this regard.
In conclusion, the rector presented a NUML memento to the guest.
Academic Council meeting
In its 19th meeting of the Academic Council held on Tuesday, the university deliberated the issues pertaining to examination and curriculum.
The rector emphasised the need to enhancing the research culture in the university.
He reiterated that NUML is striving to promote quality education and every individual member has to put in their best efforts to make it a success.
Several issues regarding curriculum and examination were deliberated to enhance the education standards.
