Mumbai attacks: Contempt of court notice against Rehman Malik

The court issued the notice to the Interior Minister for the statements he made during the Saarc Conference.

RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi issued a contempt of court notice against Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Express 24/7 reported on Wednesday.

The main accused in the Mumbai attacks case, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, filed a petition against Rehman Malik for giving incorrect statements regarding the case.

The court issued the notice to the Interior Minister for the statements he made in Thimpu, Nepal during the Saarc Conference.

During the conference, Malik stated that the government has formed a judicial commission, which would travel to Mumbai for further investigations into the Mumbai attacks.

Lakhvi’s counsel said no such judicial commission has been formed yet. Lakhvi, meanwhile, sent an application for the formation of a commission regarding the case.

The court has reserved its verdict on this matter.
