Cop suspended for theft, caught stealing iron bars

Misuses police uniform, resists arrest and assaults ASI

A disgruntled former sub-inspector who had been dismissed from service got involved in an altercation with a policeman in Rawat area of Rawalpindi when he was caught red-handed attempting to commit a theft at a private housing society along with his wife as accomplice.

The sub-inspector also physically assaulted a police an SHO over resistance.

According to police, two separate cases, including the charge of illegal use of a police uniform and intruding with police in the performance of their duties were registered against the former sub-inspector.

Relating details of the incident a police officer disclosed that one Wajahat working as a security guard at a private housing society called and said that a man tried to take away steel bars from the site and was caught by the people.

The suspect named Mohammad Irfan, had a black car and identified himself as a sub-inspector. After being caught red-handed, the suspect said that the theft was not committed by him but a woman in the car, who turned out to be his wife. During the altercation, Irfan started beating a the society’s guard and also threatened to kill him. Meanwhile, a police complaint was lodged against the suspect at Rawat police station.

A second FIR was registered in which ASI Saeed Ahmed said that Mohammad Irfan resisted him while he performed his official duties.

The ASI also maintained that the suspect grabbed his collar and tried to handcuff him. He also tore his official shirt pocket and broke the buttons of his uniform shirt.

Irfan, a former sub-inspector in the police department, had hung his official uniform in his car. He had been earlier removed from the police service, the ASI maintained in his complaint adding that the suspect interfered with government work by trying to fraudently use his uniform.
