Sindh reports 251 fresh cases

Pandemic death toll at 4,219 with seven more fatalities

Over 250 new Covid-19 cases and seven contagion-related fatalities were reported in Sindh on Sunday, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House on the day.

Elaborating further on these developments, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in the statement that the results of 9,252 Covid-19 tests were released on the day, and 251 samples were found infected. A total of 2,872,660 samples have been tested thus far, added Shah. The provincial coronavirus tally rose to 253, 761 on the day while the pandemic death toll stood at 4,219. The CM further stated that 235,470 persons in Sindh have recovered from the contagion including 327 overnight.

Of the new cases, 134 belonged to Karachi, with 55 detected in East district, 39 in South district, 15 in Korangi, 13 in Central and six cases each detected in Malir and West districts.

Meanwhile, Nawabshah reported 15 new infections, Badin 13, Tando Allahyar 12, Shikarpur 10, Jacobabad nine, Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Mirpurkhas, Naushero Feroze and Ghotki reported five each, Hyderabad and Khairpur five each, Jamshoro and Dadu four each and Sukkur reported two fresh cases.

According to the CM, 14,072 infected persons were under treatment in Sindh on Saturday, with 13,568 in home isolation, 11 at isolation centres and 493 in different hospitals. He said that the condition of 450 patients, including 57 on ventilators, was critical.
