White lion cubs’ death: MPA demands fair probe

Claims demise was a result of negligence

LAHORE:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Hina Pervez Butt has demanded a fair investigation over the death of two white lion cubs in Lahore Zoo through a resolution submitted to the Punjab Assembly secretariat.

She strongly condemned the deaths of the cubs adding it is regrettable that the cubs of precious species of lions lost their lives owing to the negligence of zoo administration.

The lawmaker expressed serious concerns over the postmortem report which suggests the Covid-19 infection resulted in the death of the young lions.

“It is shameful that six cubs of white lions have died so far and no one is ready to admit their fault,” she lamented.

Talking to The Express Tribune MPA Hina Pervez Butt said instead of nurturing and promoting the breeding of white lions we are on the way to eliminate them.

“We must hold accountable all those responsible for the escalated death toll of animals since last year,” the lawmaker stressed.

The PML-N veteran further expressed dismay over the ruination of all departments by the incumbent government.

Wary of the tall claims made by the PTI-led government, Hina said, the country had been brought to the edge of destruction.
