At least three workers died while nine others were left injured in an accident during construction work in Manwan area on Thursday. Rescue sources said construction work was underway on a mosque’s dome in Al-Hafeez garden area when suddenly the dome fell down. As a result, a dozen of the workers suffered injuries.
They were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment where doctors pronounced three of them dead on arrival. The deceased have been identified as Riaz 36, Nazim, 45, and Shafiq, 40.
An eyewitness said around 12 labourers were busy in construction work on the upper side of the dome when the scaffolding fell and all of a sudden the dome also caved in. The workers rushed for safety.
