Mardan gets Sehat Card Plus scheme

0.5 million households to receive free medical treatment facilities

The Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan on Tuesday launched the Sehat Card Plus scheme for the entire population of Mardan district.

During his one day visit to Mardan, he also inaugurated various developmental schemes including the Safe City Project and the administration block and gymnasium at Bacha Khan Medical Complex.

Terming the Sehat Card Plus scheme as a flagship project of the provincial government, CM Mahmood said that the project was a historical achievement towards the accomplishment of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of a welfare state.

He highlighted how more than 0.5 million households of the district would get free treatment facilities under the Sehat Card Plus scheme.

The provincial chief executive was apprised about the first phase of Safe City Project that has been completed with a cost of Rs13 million under which 72 CCTV cameras have been installed at 16 different spots of the district headquarter.

He was also briefed about the projects of administration block and gymnasium at Bacha Khan Medical Complex that have been completed with a cost of Rs49 million and Rs70 million respectively.

On the occasion, the chief minister announced a package of Rs2 billion in the upcoming budget for different road infrastructure projects in district Mardan, Rs1.2 billion for provision of various healthcare facilities in Bacha Khan Medical Complex, Rs1.5 billion for Benazir Bhutto Paeds hospital whereas Rs500 million for the establishment of Cath Lab in Bacha Khan Medical Complex.

CM Mahmood also announced construction of Tehsil Complex Building for the newly established Tehsil Garhi Kapoor, establishment of two colleges in Mardan.

While addressing a public gathering at Garhi Kapoor, the chief minister termed Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) as a group of jobless people and rejected politicians who have ruled this country for 70 years turn by turn to loot the national exchequer.

Talking about the developmental strategy of his government, CM Mahmood said that various mega developmental projects were underway in different sectors of the province including communications, industries, tourism and energy which on completion will usher in a new era of industrial development, trade and economic activities in the province.

He also administered oath to the newly elected members of Mardan press club and announced a grant-in-aid for the press club as well.

On the other hand, Abdul Karim, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Industry and Trade said the provincial government is taking concrete steps for the economic development of the newly merged districts.

“The Economic Rehabilitation Programme in the newly merged districts should be completed as soon as possible to usher in a new era of development and prosperity in the region,” he said.

During the meeting, Karim was given a detailed briefing on the ongoing economic rehabilitation program in North Waziristan on the future course of action.

Representatives from department of relief and rehabilitation, SMEDA, and District Administration North Waziristan attended the meeting.
