Sindh reports 399 new Covid-19 cases

32 more fall prey to contagion in province

Sunday saw the detection of 399 new Covid-19 cases in Sindh and the reporting of 32 more coronavirus-related deaths, following which the province’s death toll rose to 4,119, and its infection tally climbed to 251,046, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s House on the day.

The new cases were detected against 9,136 samples that were tested for the contagion, the CM said, adding that so far, over 2.8 million samples have been screened for the infection in the province.

Of the new cases, 213 belonged to Karachi, with 73 having been detected in east district, 68 in South district, 25 in Korangi and as many in Central district, 18 in West district and 13 in Malir. Among the remaining cases, 33 were reported from Badin, 31 from Hyderabad, 16 from Jacobabad, 13 from Matiari, nine from Sujawal, eight from Tando Muhammad Khan, seven from Jamshoro, six from Sanghar, five from Dadu, four each from Naushero Feroze and Larkana, three from Qambar-Shahdadkot and as many from Tando Allahyar and one each from Shikarpur and Sukkur.

Besides, he said, of the total 227,599 recoveries reported in Sindh so far, 410 were reported on Sunday.

This has left 19,369 active cases in the province as of now, the CM explained. He added that among those currently under treatment, 18,762 Covid-19 patients were in home isolation, eight in isolation centres and 599 in hospitals. According to the CM, the condition of 555 patients was declared critical, with 69 having been put on ventilators.
