KARACHI:

An operational trial run was carried out on the 14-kilometres-long railway track of the Karachi Circular Railway route from City to Orangi stations on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Railways Karachi divisional superintendent's office, the trial train run was conducted in the presence of officers of the Karachi division and KCR project engineers.

The statement refuted media reports regarding derailment of KCR trial train.

The statement denied that a KCR train had met with an accident near Sher Shah area during its trial and maintained that the train ran smoothly from City Station through Orangi Station and back.

"A 30 minutes break near Sher Shah was a major part of examining the operational parametres that was misconstrued as derailment or any other accident," read the statement.

It further mentioned that the Karachi division has also successfully concluded a trial run of the China Creek Bridge near Karachi Port Trust.
