Kangana Ranaut calls Twitter ‘China’s puppet’

Actor's account under threat of suspension

Entertainment Desk February 05, 2021

On Thursday, Twitter took action against actor Kangana Ranaut by deleting some of her tweets, stating that the now-deleted posts were in violation of the platform's guidelines. Kangana had reacted to cricketer Rohit Sharma's message on the farmer's protests with a tweet filled with profanities. It was one of the two tweets that were taken down.

The Queen actor shared a tweet following night, saying that Twitter is menacing to suspend her account permanently. "China's puppet Twitter is threatening to suspend my account even though I did not violate any rules. Remember jiss din main jaungi tumko saath lekar jaungi (the day I go down, I’ll drag you along). Just like Chinese TikTok you will be banned as well," she wrote. Sharma had written “India has always been stronger when we all stand together and finding a solution is the need of the hour. Our farmers play an important role in our nation’s well-being and I am sure everyone will play their roles to find a solution TOGETHER. #IndiaTogether," resulting in backlash from Ranaut within seconds.

Ever since pop artist and beauty mogul Rihanna tweeted on the farmer’s protest, Ranaut has been tweeting relentlessly. The Pon de Replay songstress had taken to her Twitter handle and shared a news story by CNN speaking on the internet shutdown in several districts of Delhi. Not only that but Ranaut also targeted Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who also voiced in support for the farmers.

Despite Thunberg being half her age, Ranaut - including other patriotic Indians - have turned to violence towards the environmental champion and singer.
