Cop injured by ‘snatchers’

A policeman was shot and injured during an exchange of fire with street criminals, who were attempting to rob a citizen in Baldia Town, said the police on Thursday.

Two suspects were reportedly robbing a citizen, named Abdul Hameed, at gunpoint near Mashallah Hotel in Saeedabad area of Baldia Town, when a policeman in plain clothes attempted to restrain them.

According to police, the unidentified suspects opened fire at Head Constable Ameer Ali of the Sindh Reserve Police. The suspected robbers managed to escape and the injured cop was shifted to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital. The CCTV footage of the incident has been retrieved and taking notice of the matter, Sindh IGP Mushtaq Mehar has sought a report from the Keamari SSP.
