AYUBIA:

An early resolution to the problems being faced by Hazara’s legal fraternity is a top priority, said Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan on Tuesday.

He said the working relationship between the bar and the bench would be further strengthened.

The PHC chief justice said this while addressing a ceremony hosted by the High Court Bar Association (HBA) of Abbottabad.

He assured the lawyers that their demands related to the administration would be brought to the notice of the Hazara division commissioner.

Justice Qaiser Rashid said he had released funds for the construction of the Haripur Judicial Complex soon after taking the oath. He issued directives to the divisional administration to arrange a car parking facility for the High Court Bar of Abbottabad.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of lawyers, including Abbottabad High Court Bar President Sardar Abdur Rauf, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mir Waiz Niaz and presidents of the DBAs from Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur and Battagram.

Earlier, the Sardar Abdur Rauf, while addressing the ceremony, demanded of the PHC chief justice to allocate funds for the construction of judicial complexes in Haripur and Mansehra. He also called for the removal of hurdles causing a delay in the completion of the projects.

He suggested that land must be acquired at the deputy commissioner’s office for the construction of a car parking facility for the Abbottabad HCB.

Rauf also appealed to the PHC chief justice to play his role in reducing the burden on courts as well as making appointments on all vacant posts in the judiciary.

In his address, the chief justice said the issues mentioned by the bar president would be resolved on a priority basis. He was of the view that the lawyers of Hazara must revive their great culture of the past – the culture that spread knowledge and wisdom among the legal fraternity.

The ceremony concluded with feteha (prayers) for the soul of late Waqar Ahmad Seith, the former PHC chief justice.
