PM lauds K-P on becoming 'first province with universal health coverage'

Premier says 40,000,000 residents of the province have been covered with free health insurance

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday for becoming the 'first province with universal health coverage.'

"Congratulations to K-P govt for making K-P the first province in Pakistan with Universal Health Coverage for all KP-domiciled citizens," the premier said in a Twitter post.

He added, "40,000,000 residents covered with free health insurance. Free treatment upto Rs1,000,000 per family per year in over 400 govt/private hospitals across Pak."

 

Meanwhile, PM Imran will interact with the people via telephone later today in a bid to address their concerns, according to a statement issued by his office a day earlier.

On Sunday, the premier said that the government's efforts to reduce inflation are showing results as the consumer price index and core inflation are on a downward trend.

Last week, while addressing a gathering in Shaiwal, the PM said that efforts were underway to turn Pakistan into an industrial state and an agro-based economy, to ensure sustainable development and prosperity.
