In Rawalpindi, building inspector again suspended for corruption

The inspector was recently reinstated after being suspended over the same allegation in the past too

RAWALPINDI:

A Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) building inspector has been accused of taking a bribe from a woman in exchange of not taking action against illegal construction.

The inspector was recently reinstated after being suspended over the same allegation in the past too.

RCB Building Inspector Amanullah was summoned by Additional CEO Maria Jabeen after a complainant accused him of taking a bribe of Rs250,000. Jabeen ordered the security staff to seize the cellphone of the building inspector for further investigation.

In this regard, RCB Spokesman Qaiser Mehmood Qamar said that the board’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Omar Farooq Ali Malik believes in zero-tolerance against corruption. RCB has already started compiling lists of officers and employees sitting at the same station and posts for the last 30-35 years.

These people will be transferred to different cantonments across the country.
