Man injured in ‘acid attack’

The police have registered a case under sections 336B

DIJKOT:

A man suffered severe burns when unknown men attacked him with acid.

Police said the 30-year-old acid attack victim was identified as Omar Asghar who worked at a printing press near Jhang Road.

On Wednesday night when Asghar was returning home from his job, unknown motorcyclists chased him and threw a bottle of acid on his head near Ilyas Park. His right ear and hands were badly burnt by the acid.

Rescue officials shifted him to the Allied Hospital after initial medical treatment. Gulberg and Jhang Bazaar police differed over the boundaries of their precincts after the incident. Later, Gulberg police had to take action on the intervention of senior officers.

The police have registered a case under sections 336B and 34 of PPC against the unidentified motorcyclists.
