Bacha Khan University Charsadda has planned to introduce a new dress code very soon under which female students will be bound to wear scarf with abaya on the university premises.
Jeans, tights, t-shirts, shorts and make-up, as well as jewelry, fancy purse, translucent cloths and high heels, will be forbidden for girls studying in the varsity.
Under the new dress code, boys will be allowed to wear dress pants of blue or black colour, shalwar qameez, coat or jackets. They will not be allowed to wear shorts, cut-off jeans, skintight jeans, sports shoes, jeans or wristbands.
Presiding over the ninth Academic Council meeting Vice Chancellor Bacha Khan University Professor Dr Bashir Ahmad asked officials to prepare plans for making reading of Quran and its translation part of curriculum, adding that it will be presented to the university syndicate for approval.
He informed the meeting that the academic council has finalised recommendations for the new dress code, taking into account the cultural and religious teachings and will soon be approved by the syndicate after which it will be implemented.

According to a press release issued by the Bacha Khan University media wing, teachers too are not allowed to wear jeans, sandals, earrings, or even wristbands and female teachers will not be allowed to wear short shirts.
The VC said that there should be proper arrangements for teaching students religion, the Quran and its translation with proper explanation in order to make the younger generation better and responsible citizens.
It is worth mentioning here that the Hazara University located in Abbottabad has already issued a notification for a similar dress code on the ‘instruction of Governor Shah Farman’.
