Chahat in critical condition due to wounds caused by a deep dagger

PESHAWAR:

A transgender person was stabbed multiple times in Malakand district’s Batkhela area on Monday, local police confirmed.

The president of the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Transgender Association, Arzo, informed the media that Chahat along with four other transgender persons was heading to a music party when the unfortunate incident took place.

According to sources, they were stopped by some people who tried looting them and stabbed Chahat multiple times upon her resistance.

Due to multiple dagger wounds, she was rushed to local a hospital but was referred to another hospital in Peshawar because of her deteriorated condition.

The spokesperson of the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, Muhammad Asim said Chahat was still in a critical condition despite multiple operations as she lost a lot of blood on her way to the hospital.

He added that, “we have provided a private room for her and senior medical staff visits her to provide the best medical care. We believe on providing equal medical services to all communities irrespective of their profession, religious or creeds.”

The local police said they are making efforts to nab the culprits behind the heinous incident who will be dealt according to the law.

Further investigation into the case is also underway.

Last year, in a horrific incident, a transgender person was killed while another sustained injuries when unidentified gunmen shot them in the provincial capital.

The tragic incident sparked anger on social media with netizens demanding justice for the deceased on the micro-blogging social network Twitter.
