It's happening! Seems like the Game of Thrones fans will be treated with more than just one prequel of the Emmy-winning show. According to reports, another prequel series apart from House of Dragons, called Tales of Dunk and Egg is in early development at HBO according to Variety. The series set 90 years before the events of the original show will have hour-long episodes.
Tales of Dunk and Egg is a series of novellas by George RR Martin. It is set in the same fantasy world as GoT and follows the life of a hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire, Egg (or Aegon V Targaryen). Dunk would later go on to become the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and Egg, the king of Seven Kingdoms, Aegon the Unlikely.
The story of Dunk and Egg is far simpler than Game of Thrones as it is centered around just two characters and their adventures across the Seven Kingdoms.
Earlier, the first look of the prequel of the show, House of Dragons, was out. Though the award-winning show ended after eight seasons in 2019, Martin’s sprawling world continues to take on new forms on television. HBO had shared first-look concept art from House of the Dragon, the upcoming spinoff series from co-creators Martin and Ryan Condal.
The first peek at the new show was unveiled when HBO parent company Warner Bros’ big announced that all of its 2021 movies will stream on HBO Max alongside theatrical runs wherever possible. The shooting for the show will begin in 2021.
