UAE embassy vaccinates employees against Covid-19

Immunisation programme continued for two days after DRAP authorised Sinopharm vaccine in Pakistan

NEWS DESK January 22, 2021

The UAE embassy in Pakistan organised an immunisation programme to vaccinate employees and all cadres of its representative offices against the Covid-19.

The vaccination programme continued for two days, from 19th to 20th January, after the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) authorised Sinopharm vaccine in Pakistan.

The Drap earlier this month approved China’s Sinopharm and the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines for emergency use.

China will “gift” half-million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to Pakistan by the end of this month, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced, following his telephonic conversation with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Thursday.

Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al Zaabi, the UAE ambassador, said on the occasion that the vaccination programme is based on embassy’s commitment towards social responsibility and to effectively contribute in efforts aimed at safety of the society and preserving the health of its communities.

It is pertinent to mention that more than 2 million people in the United Arab Emirates have already received the Sinopharm vaccine, which is available for free to all citizens and residents along with Pfizer-BioNTech and other vaccines, as the UAE is on its way to vaccinate half of its population against the fast spreading coronavirus in the first quarter of this year.
