Basant night to be observed on February 25

The Kite Association vows to celebrate basant no matter how hard the govt tries to stop them

The Kite Association has announced it will celebrate basant festival and basant night in Rawalpindi despite the ban.

The office-bearers of the association said that the basant would be celebrated in the garrison city on February 26 while the basant night will be held on February 25 which will start after sunset and continue till midnight. Rawalpindi-Islamabad Kite Association officials including Muhammad Iqbal and Niaz Ahmed told The Express Tribune that the festival would be celebrated with cultural zeal.

They added that the preparations for basant have been started while all kite enthusiasts have been informed about the decision regarding the event.

The officials said that they had stocked kites and strings for basant in Rawalpindi and its delivery to the kite-lovers would start from the first week of February. The association officials said that if it rained on February 26 as forecast, the event would automatically shift to next Friday.

They vowed that they would celebrate basant no matter how hard the government would try to stop them.
