IGP says police force needs competent trainers

Says competent teachers can train newly recruited personnel on modern lines

The most basic element in good policing is good training of the policemen, said the police chief of the capital asserting on psychological screening of cadets besides physical and arms training.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Qazi Jamilur Rehman emphasised the need for appointing talented teachers at police training school to enhance the capacity building of the new recruits.

"Competent teachers can train the newly recruited personnel on modern lines to integrate them in society and fight against crime and injustice," he said during his visit at the police training school on Tuesday.

Senior officials, including Additional Inspector General Establishment, Senior Superintendent of Police Headquarters and the school principal briefed the IGP on training being imparted to recruits.

Rehman asked the teachers should train the fresh recruits on new methods of investigation and collection of evidence from the crime scene. He directed the school principal to ensure all out efforts for the provision of good food, accommodation and clean environment to the recruits.

He remarked that the school plays a pivotal role in the training of recruits, adding that complainants at police stations should be treated with respect should also be part of the training.
