Speeding truck kills three sisters in Kohat

All the bodies and injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital

At least three women were killed and two other family members were left seriously injured when a rickshaw was hit by a speeding truck on Peshawar bypass in Kohat district on Sunday.

Police said that all the three deceased women were siblings. According to sources familiar with the incident, a woman was traveling in a rickshaw along with her five daughters when it was hit by a speeding truck, killing three girls on the spot and injuring others.

All the bodies and injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) while the driver of the truck managed to escape from the spot leaving his vehicle behind.

Police registered an FIR and told The Express Tribune that the deceased and injured girls belonged to Nawa Kali of Peshawar who were on a visit to Kohat when the tragic accident happened.

Police said that they had begun investigation into the case and condition of the injured was deemed to be critical in the hospital.

An official said that the truck had been taken into custody whereas police were conducting raids to arrest the driver.
